Open Farm Day
Over the last seven years, we have been able to donate over $90,000. Unlike our oilseed sunflower field, these ornamental sunflower varieties branch and continuously produce new blooms to enjoy for a few weeks, so the bloom extends past our sunflower festival dates. Join us on Saturday, April 27th, from 11 am to 2 pm at Coppal House Farm in Lee, NH, as we celebrate our 20th year in the Lee NH farming community. Once we hit winter, our fields are covered in snow and we offer sleigh rides for couples and families. You can book a private sleigh or reserve seats on our public sleigh rides. We also partner with Flag Hill Distillery and Winery down the road and offer a special Sleigh & Spirits event.
SUNRISE IN THE SUNFLOWERS
Rescheduling is only an option if Coppal House Farm contacts you due to weather. If we do not have ideal snow conditions to be able to offer a sleigh rather than a wagon for your ride, you may opt to receive farm credit for the full amount of your reservation. In the summer, we have our very popular Sunflower Festival that runs from the last weekend of July into the first weekend of August. Once our large culinary sunflower fields have past bloom, we have a one-acre Variety Garden that is available for guests.
The Draft Horse Whisperer
Once they are passed bloom, the fields are closed for visiting. Our crops are rotated around the farm for the health of the soil, so our corn maze is a different experience every year. Depending on the weather, the corn maze has been planted by our Belgian Draft Horses and it is almost always harvested by them. Our corn is not of the human eating variety, instead it is a feed corn used for the nourishment of our sheep flock and our horses.

When oilseed crops are processed into culinary oil, they also provide a byproduct that is high in protein and valuable as a livestock feed source. All of the crops that we grow can be fed in some way to at least only of the livestock breeds on our farm. This reduces the amount of bagged grain that we have shipped into the farm from surrounding states, therefore lowering our carbon footprint. The snow is long gone, the birds are chirping, and the trees are blooming, which means that spring is finally here.

All of our chicken is processed at Granite State Poultry & Processing in Milford, NH. Gather a group of friends or family for a unique fall night out or plan a corporate event. Rentals are available any evening from our opening day until our closing day, excluding the nights of our flashlight night mazes. Private rentals make great TEAM BUILDING opportunities, PTA EVENTS, CORPORATE EVENTS, or BIRTHDAY PARTIES.
At this farm, you can pick your own strawberries in the spring. During the fall months, the farm offers a beautiful pumpkin patch and have a very popular corn maze. Throughout out the spring, they offer strawberry picking. They host field trips for scout troops, home school groups, school classrooms and church groups. Guests are invited to visit the Gilchrist Farm and you learn how to milk the goats, gather eggs or take a horseback-riding lesson. You can also enjoy the petting zoo, take a wagon ride, a pony ride or make a local seasonal craft, like soap-making.

Special Events
On occasion circumstances (especially relating to weather) may arise and are simply out of our control. By making a reservation, you are opting to participate in an outdoor event and will need to plan accordingly. By making a reservation with Coppal House Farm, you are making a reservation for a horse-drawn ride. Whether that is with a sleigh or a wagon will be determined by the weather and snow conditions.
Reservations
They contain two to ten times more omega-3 fats which aid in reducing inflammation in your body. They contain two times the vitamin E, an important antioxidant, which lessens damage caused by normal aging and helps the body rid itself of toxins. They contain three to six times the vitamin D, an important nutrient if you do not get enough exposure to the sun. They are also higher in vitamin A; folate, the natural form of folic acid; vitamin B-12; lutein & zeaxanthin, two antioxidants important for eye health. While we are a livestock farm, we are not a petting farm. Our animals are being rotated each day around our pastures so they receive the best graze and we use electrified fence to protect them. Our horses may be working on any given day or may be out to pasture as well. We have specific events where we open our barns for viewing our livestock. For those unfamiliar with the term “poor farm” they were large complexes funded and run by counties or towns to house the poor and destitute, which were often the elderly and disabled. These places were also working farms, complete with fields, orchards, and livestock, which were tended to by the more able-bodied residents, the farm aspect supplied the residents with food, and the excess was sold for profit.
Plan accordingly, please remember that this is an outside event with uneven terrain. Please call ahead prior to your visit to discuss your needs. This farm has been in existence since the 1740’s and we try to maintain it’s historical integrity with modern functionality. No party preference voters account for more than a fifth of the electorate. All tickets for our Sunflower Variety Garden are available to purchase in our farm store. Join our egg CSA to be guaranteed the freshest eggs all year round.
Answer the question incorrectly and you will be sent the longer way or the wrong way entirely. Our trivia is geared toward a wide range of ages from the young to the young at heart. Those that welcome more of a challenge are free to enter the corn maze through the exit where the trivia will provide no help at all. In the field adjacent to the corn maze, you are welcome to plan other activities or games that follow your school curriculum. We have had school groups bring giant parachutes, plan a scavenger hunt, and have story time.
Other factors to consider are situations that may affect operations at the farm caused by weather. This year we have also planned to have our Variety Garden in bloom throughout the month of August so people can continue to enjoy beautiful sunflowers right up to the opening of our Corn Maze. Coppal House Farm holds itself to high standards, trying to keep all of its vistas scenic and beautiful.
Twiggy, Ice, Charlie and Wyatt will be groomed and ready for visitors. Stand next to your favorite horse and get a picture to commemorate your visit to Coppal House Farm.
