Mission

Foster Village Charlotte’s mission is to make that transition easier and provide resources and support for children and families. The journey is often lonely and emotionally exhausting for everyone involved. It was this challenge that prompted four Charlotte-based foster moms to seek out support during their own foster care journeys. After finding each other, they quickly realized the need for a community of support that would ensure every foster parent had the resources they needed to continue offering a safe place for children. Today, even with the disruption of the pandemic, Foster Village thrives.

A recent Foster Village survey of more than 100 of its client families found that 75% of caregivers are likely to continue fostering in 2022 because of the organization’s services. We found that grassroots fundraising was really aligned with who we are and what we are about – this picture of everyone coming together for the good of all,” said Santoro. In June 2018, we launched Foster Village and opened Tony’s new coffee shop. We also found out our new daughter’s brother, then 16 months old, had not been adopted after all. We took him into our family, and he fit right away. I went to Michigan State to be a special education teacher. We graduated and moved to Charlotte in 2007 to teach in Title I schools.

We also found out that our foster daughter’s biological brother was born and needed a home. But then, during a court meeting, the judge decided that the baby would live with an aunt and uncle. Once we did, I couldn’t unhear or unsee what I had seen and heard. We finished classes and home inspections, then got a phone call saying we could start hearing about kids soon.

It will be imperative for us to set healthy guidelines for eligibility and liability. Creating pathways for earned revenue including curriculum design and the use of the FVC Resource Centers on off-hours for like minded individuals and organizations. FVC is interested in developing earned revenue pathways that diversify funding and allow us to be an expert in the field. Knowledge of copywriting curriculum, becoming accredited to provide CEU credits to educators and therapists, and setting up facility terms and agreements are all areas of future growth within the organization. Over the next several months, this family comes back to the FVC Resource Center for trauma-informed trainings, foster family gatherings, family attachment and connection classes, and therapy-led support groups.

Our neighborhood friendly restaurant offers many versatile settings so whatever mood you’re in, you can find comfort anywhere. We have televisions propped at all angles at the pub and many craft beer selections. When the new Ed’s Tavern opens later this year, it will be the second restaurant opened by the company in two years. The Blundells opened their second concept, FreeMore Tavern, in Wesley Heights, offering only 12 beers on draft and the same menu. Ed’s Tavern renamed itself as Bourbon N Burgers in 2017, but the change didn’t sit well with customers. The owners rebranded back to Ed’s after only a few months.

I definitely made the right choice by selecting Ed’s over a number of other Charlotte venues I considered. From start to finish I had a very good experience and many of the folks attending the concert commented about the good service. All the staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. Ed’s has a lot of space inside with many TVs and the expansive deck out back is a great place to relax outside.

As for food, customers can expect plenty of burgers made with Ed’s signature 6oz patty packed with chuck, brisket & short rib. Sides include onion rings, fries, tots, mac & cheese, cucumber salad, sauteed veggies, and chips. You won’t find a better local non-corporation owned bar in Charlotte with better food. I’ve had most things menu items here but the wings in any flavor and the burgers are legit! Located in a great comfy neighborhood and I really like the layout here for sports. Ed’s Tavern is located in the heart of Dilworth, NC.

Thanks to Mike Morelli and his staff for helping kick off our reunion weekend. Good sports bar atmosphere, waiters can be a bit in a rush at times nothing terrible. I think they have some good wings though I was disgusted with the Cajun flavor rub. It was a weird texture and it tasted burnt, not sure what was going on but would not get again. The Nashville flavor on the other hand...AMAZING!
